Centre Overview

Roles of Consortium Groups

The UJV is a core of the Centre, with Monash University representing the UJV legally and owning the Intellectual Property generated by the Centre's activities. The UJV Members conduct the Centre's activities and commercialise the research outputs.

The Sponsors support the Centre financially and by in-kind contributions, and have the right to use the Intellectual Property generated by the Centre's activities for their internal benefits.

The Equipment Suppliers provide their equipment to the Centre and in exchange receive free publicity of the equipment provided in presentations and papers on the results of studies, and feedback on the use of their equipment and its performance. However, the Equipment Suppliers are not entitled to the information provided to the Sponsors.

Management and Scientific Advisory Board

The Centre is governed by the CPTM Management and Scientific Advisory Board and managed by the Centre Director who oversees the management of the Centre and its research activities. The Board shall be responsible for recommending the overall direction of the Centre, the preferred policies to be applied to the conduct of CPTM activities and providing advice and recommendations relating to contracts with third parties. The Board shall also be responsible for setting the research agenda and for reviewing any external contract research opportunities to ensure they are a good fit with CPTM objectives and determining resource requirements.

Sponsor Committee

The Sponsors form a Sponsor Committee. The Sponsor Committee comprises one representative from each of the Sponsors and the Centre Director.

Through the three Sponsor Representatives on the Management and Scientific Advisory Board the Sponsor Committee will advise the Management and Scientific Advisory Board on the perspectives of the Sponsors on the conduct of the Activities. The Sponsor Committee shall regulate its own affairs. It meets at intervals not less that once per year and appoints the Sponsor Representatives on the Management and Scientific Advisory Board from time to time.

Technical Advisory Committee

The Centre has determined that a Technical Advisory Committee should be formed to assist in the development of the centre, to enhance the technical alignment of the centre to industry requirements and to promote the centre to the industry as a “Centre of Excellence” in transformer monitoring, diagnostics and life management. Research Team

The Monash research team has developed a world reputation for excellent work conducted in the area of expertise since 1994. The Centre is being built on that reputation and work (publications; photographs: field projects, 1994 and 2003 built research laboratories).

3rd CPTM Seminar

22 November 2007, Monash University Clayton, organised jointly by the Centre and the IEEE Power Engineering Society Chapter of Victoria for both sponsors and non-sponsors..


2nd CPTM Seminar

7 September 2007, Brisbane, the Centre has delivered a professional training seminar to the Sponsors and UJV Members. Current research results of the Centre have been presented.
